Boats Off Spring Lake by Oct. 8
The Minnesota DNR will be shutting down the Spring Lake public access in Prior Lake starting the first week of October and plans to have the majority of the work done and ramp open by mid-November. . The contractor says they will start with reclaiming the asphalt and the site should still be useable that first week. Whenever the contractor decides to do the ramp removal/installation is when the site will be unusable as well as when they pour the concrete as it needs proper curing time. A future pre-construction meeting will reveal a more accurate timeline. The DNR is recommending residents should have their boat off the lake by Oct. 8. to ensure you don't have any issues.
The project includes improvements to the storm water management, an Aquatic Invasive Species boat inspection and cleaning area will be added, new (night sky friendly) lighting, new boat ramp, new bituminous for the parking lots, and shoreline restoration. During construction they plan to keep the ramp open as much as possible, however it will be difficult to predict which days will be open or closed so plan accordingly. If you have any additional questions you can contact Nancy Stewart at the DNR, her email address is nancy.stewart@state.mn.us
