City Council Approves Mini Roundabout

The Duluth Avenue/TH 13 Intersection Improvement Project that was originally ordered by City Council in 2015, is now scheduled for later this summer. The project includes widening the intersection to include dedicated left, through, and right turn lanes on Duluth in both directions.

It also includes the addition of a right turn lane into the Holiday Station Store’s North entrance. A new median on Duluth will make the Village Lake Mall entrance a right-in/right-out only. The intersection of Duluth and Village Lake Drive will become a mini roundabout. There will also be modifications to several of the southerly entrances to Village Lake Mall property and the realignment of the Toronto/Village Lake Drive intersection.

The importance of getting this project done this year is in anticipation of next year’s CH 21/ TH 13 project. The Duluth/TH 13 intersection is expected to see increased traffic as people navigate around the construction zone.

To build the mini roundabout, there will be a full closure of the Village Lake Drive/Duluth intersection for about six weeks. The full Duluth/TH 13 project is expected to be started in September with most of the work being completed in November, depending on weather. It is likely that landscaping and a final road layer will be done next year. Visit the City's street project page for more information on projects around the City.

An Open House regarding the Duluth Ave./TH 13 project is scheduled for Thursday, July 26, from 4 - 6 p.m. at City Hall, 4646 Dakota St. SE, Prior Lake. For more information call project manager Kirsten Gray at 952-737-4683 or email projectinfopl@wsbeng.com.
